It is with great pride that we welcome you to our school.

St. Charles School dates back to 1873, and is situated in extensive grounds on Durham Road in Spennymoor.

The community of St. Charles School believes that Jesus is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to giving every child, every opportunity to achieve their potential in mind and body in a happy, safe and caring environment. Our staff strive to provide excellent opportunities for our children to enjoy and succeed. We are blessed with wonderful children. They have a great attitude to their learning and towards each other through mutual respect.

Our families, governors and our parishes play an important role in the success of our school. We really appreciate the support they give in making St. Charles’ a really special community.

If you are considering our school please view or download our school brochure which contains details on admissions, curriculum and our classes. You can view our performance information including our latest Ofsted Report and a selection of our school policies.

We have been on lockdown for some time now due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Schools have been closed and most children have stayed home. The message has been to stay home to stay safe, so the news of gradual re-openings of schools may bring up a range of emotions. Just like after the school holidays it is important to prepare children for the return to school and the accompanying routines.

Here is a document, created by Durham County Council, which gives some great ideas and support for families.

There is also a great link to the NSPCC Virtual Assembly, which was released in June, for families to watch and talk together about.
